It’s my birthday and I am making a #birthdaywishforwildlife which is that you make a small donation of a #giftforwildlife to help me celebrate my special day.
Just a month ago, one of the most special places, Yellowstone National Park, turned 150 years old! While the land has been around for millions of years, the region now known as Yellowstone National Park was formally protected by the United States Government in 1872, becoming the world’s first National Park.
I am really proud that this is a part of US history and at the same time we have to accept that we have lost our way somewhat in protecting wildlife and the natural world. The UN has made it clear that there are only 10 years left to save the world’s biodiversity from mass extinction.
Direct exploitation for trade is the most important driver of decline and extinction risk for marine species and the second most important drive for terrestrial and freshwater species. We need to change consumer behavior and this is why I don’t want my family and friends to buy me more stuff for my birthday. I certainly don’t need more stuff!
I have everything in the world I want with my two incredible daughters and a caring network of family and friends.
So, for my birthday, I ask that you give a #giftforwildlife by making a donation to my birthday challenge for wildlife page.
Please sponsor me to support my challenge and join me. Together we can make a real difference.
Thank you for being game!
